Unlocking the potential of Birmingham’s former Municipal Bank

Engineers from NG Bailey are playing a key role in the transformation of Birmingham’s former Municipal Bank into a new multi-functional building for the University of Birmingham.

Work is already underway at the grade II listed building, one of the city’s best-known civic buildings. Once complete, the stunning pillar-fronted building located in the heart of Centenary Square, will house collaborative workspaces, cafes, galleries and places for events, research and meetings.

NG Bailey’s Engineering division has been appointed by Galliford Try to design, coordinate and deliver the installation of all mechanical, electrical and plumbing installations. The project is worth £5.3m to NG Bailey.

The onsite team, which includes mechanical and electrical apprentices, is being supported by our in-house design and our Offsite Manufacture facility which is providing installation including a chilled water pump house, distribution boards, high level roof bracketing and welded spools. Using the offsite team is vital in helping to minimise works within the historic building.
