  • Freedom Basildon Mind and Country Park

Six volunteers from our Freedom team volunteered with Basildon Mind, an organisation dedicated to supporting people facing mental health challenges. One of the supported living houses needed a refresh, and our team stepped in to help transform the space.

Volunteers rolled up their sleeves to paint and decorate the home, bringing new life and colour to rooms that many residents rely on as a place of safety and recovery. The difference was immediately felt. Residents expressed heartfelt gratitude, sharing that the refreshed environment felt brighter, cleaner, and more uplifting - a meaningful change for those working hard on their mental health journey.

This work didn’t just upgrade a building; it helped enhance wellbeing and comfort for the people who live there every day.

Just a couple of weeks later, another group of six Freedom volunteers joined the dedicated Wick-ed Weeders, the community volunteer team caring for Wick Country Park.

The joint effort focused on tackling overgrown areas of the park - removing weeds, clearing excess vegetation, and tidying the compost mound. These behind-the-scenes tasks are vital to maintaining a safe, clean, and accessible green space for local families, dog walkers, and nature lovers.

By working side-by-side with the Wick-ed Weeders, our volunteers helped restore areas of the park that had become difficult to maintain, making a visible and lasting improvement to the environment.

We’re proud of everyone who took part and grateful to the charities who continue their tireless work every day.
