Scotland’s Clean Heat Development Fund is now open

The Clean Heat Development Fund is providing resource funding to support pre-capital project development across Scotland’s public sector during 2026/27.

What you need to know

Funding is available across two clean heat themes, with the level of grant support depending on the type of organisation.

  • Generic meeting

    Heat networks

    Feasibility and cost assessments for connecting public-sector buildings to existing or future heat networks within designated Heat Network Zones.

  • Generic inspection

    Off-gas heat decarbonisation

    Feasibility and cost assessments for decarbonising heat sources in public-sector buildings located off the gas grid.

  • Generic young people

    Central government bodies

    Including Scottish health bodies and further education colleges. Up to 100% of eligible project costs, capped at £30,000.

  • Scottish landscape

    Local authorities, universities and ALEOs

    Applicants contribute 20%, with funding available for up to 80% of eligible project costs
