Powering the UK’s offshore wind ambitions

As the UK accelerates its transition to renewable energy, the delivery of reliable onshore infrastructure has become just as critical as the turbines themselves.

For this major offshore wind development, NG Bailey is playing a key role in enabling that connection, supporting the infrastructure that will bring clean energy from sea to shore and into the national grid.

Generating enough power for over a million homes, the project represents a significant step forward in the UK’s offshore wind capacity. Early engagement and a strong technical submission positioned NG Bailey as a trusted partner, providing confidence in both capability and delivery from the outset.

Engineering certainty within a fast-paced, high-specification environment

At the heart of the project sits the onshore substation and landing station, a highly serviced, performance-critical environment designed to support specialist electrical infrastructure.

Delivering the mechanical, electrical and plumbing services within this space requires more than installation alone. It demands a deep understanding of how systems interact, perform and protect sensitive equipment over the long term. From climate-controlled environments to tightly coordinated service integration, the focus has been on creating a resilient, high-performing asset, all within a compressed programme that places pressure on sequencing, approvals and delivery precision.

Raising the bar on safety, quality and collaboration

With safety set as the project’s number one priority, the delivery approach has been shaped around a zero-harm culture,  where planning, visibility of risk and proactive intervention underpin every activity on site. Working at height, managing specialist installations and operating within a live construction environment has required rigorous adherence to safe systems of work, supported by detailed planning and highly trained teams.

Just as critical has been the collaborative relationship with the client and wider delivery partners. Alignment on processes, expectations and quality standards has enabled confident decision-making and consistent progress, even within a demanding programme.

Designing for durability in a coastal environment

Located close to the coastline, the project brings additional environmental challenges that must be addressed from the outset.

All materials and systems have been selected and installed to meet stringent C5 corrosion protection standards, ensuring long-term durability in a saline, exposed environment. This forward-thinking approach protects the integrity of the infrastructure while reducing future maintenance and lifecycle costs.

Creating a platform for future delivery

Beyond the immediate project, the success of this delivery is helping to build a long-term relationship within the energy sector.

Demonstrating technical strength, delivery certainty and alignment with stringent client requirements has opened the door to further opportunities, reinforcing NG Bailey’s role as a partner capable of supporting the UK’s transition to a lower-carbon future at scale.
