Managing around 2,900 extensions, we provide the resilient communications foundations that underpin clinical operations, patient services and daily activity.

  • Christie NHS Foundation Trust

Our IT Services team has supported The Christie NHS Foundation Trust for over 25 years, delivering Mitel voice services, cabling, and ongoing maintenance across its Manchester campus and three regional sites.

Challenges

  • Legacy system integration - Integrating two independent legacy PABX systems into the core Mitel platform while maintaining a live operational environment required careful planning and precise execution.

  • Access and physical constraints - Gaining access to varied spaces across multiple hospital sites presents ongoing logistical challenges, particularly when identifying and documenting existing cabling routes

  • Complex installation environment - Working within a large, established estate requires navigating physical installation constraints and legacy infrastructure

  • Live healthcare environment- All work must be delivered safely and compliantly within active clinical areas, requiring strict adherence to Health & Safety processes and minimal disruption to patient care.

Solutions we delivered

  • Unified Mitel communication platform- Design, implementation, and ongoing support of a comprehensive Mitel-based communication system serving 2,900 extensions across four hospital sites

  • End-to-end maintenance services- Support for reception, clinical support areas, back-office operations, and contact centre services

  • Legacy system integration- Successful integration of two independent PABX systems into a single Mitel core to streamline communication across the Trust

  • Safe, controlled delivery - Careful management of cabling distribution, installation constraints, and H&S requirements across all locations.
