That’s why we’ve launched NG Bailey Low Carbon, a business unit focused on helping organisations turn decarbonisation ambition into practical, investable and measurable action.
The new business brings together our data-led insight, engineering expertise and operational capability across the full building lifecycle. From early-stage strategy and technical advisory, through design, delivery, installation and commissioning, to ongoing optimisation, we’re helping customers make lower-carbon investment work commercially and perform in the real world.
The launch comes at a time when organisations across the built environment are facing increasing pressure to reduce energy demand, improve building performance and future-proof their estates against tightening regulation, rising energy costs and growing expectations from investors, occupiers and communities.
But we don’t believe decarbonisation should be viewed simply as a compliance requirement. When approached properly, lower-carbon buildings can help reduce operational cost, improve resilience, strengthen asset value, support smarter investment decisions and create safer, more sustainable places.
A complete building lifecycle approach
NG Bailey Low Carbon is structured around three core areas: Advise, Deliver and Optimise.
Through Advise, we help customers understand their current position, define realistic targets and build practical roadmaps that turn their ambitions into action. This includes shaping commercially viable investment strategies that are grounded in real technical and operational insight and turning these into robust business cases with funding and financing options. This advisory approach is designed to help close the gap between design intent and operational reality.
Through Deliver, we bring together our capability as Principal Contractor, MEP designer and technical delivery partner. This includes end-to-end design, construction, installation and commissioning, supported by advanced digital tools, offsite manufacture and modern methods of construction, which provide an assured delivery , and smooth transition into operation.
Our delivery capability is already being demonstrated on projects such as the University of Manchester’s Booth Street East, where we’re supporting the transformation of an existing campus landmark through intelligent low-carbon engineering and refurbishment. The project includes a 100% transition to low-carbon heating, full principal contractor and MEP delivery, and support for the university’s annual carbon reduction targets.
Through Optimise, we support buildings once they’re in use, using real-time data, digital insight, technical maintenance and performance monitoring to improve efficiency, reduce operational cost and maximise long-term value. We know that not every lower-carbon decision requires major capital investment, and in many cases, the fastest route to value is unlocking more from existing assets.
