Double finalists at the North East Apprentice of the Year Awards 2024

Congratulations to two of our apprentices, Elize Burn and Kieron Harden, who have been announced as finalists at this year’s North East Apprenticeship Awards.

At NG Bailey, we recognise the importance of having apprentices in our workforce. We welcomed our first apprentice in 1934, and continue to train and develop apprentices 90 years later.

We know the opportunities apprenticeships can create, the value they bring to a business, and how they are helping to shape the future of the construction industry.

Jenna Carr, Apprentice Development Partner, said, “We are incredibly proud to nominate Kieron and Elize for the Awards, recognising their outstanding commitment and dedication to our sector. Both have demonstrated an unwavering drive to excel, consistently striving to become the best in their fields.

Kieron, nominated for Intermediate Electrical Engineering Apprentice of the Year, has shown remarkable perseverance and determination. Completing his apprenticeship with distinction, Kieron has overcome numerous challenges with resilience and a positive attitude. His passion for electrical engineering and his commitment to excellence have made him an invaluable asset to our team.

Elize, nominated for Advanced Apprentice of the Year, has also completed her apprenticeship with distinction. Her dedication to her craft and her relentless pursuit of knowledge and skill development have set her apart. Elize has faced and conquered many obstacles, always pushing herself to deliver her best work, even when out of her comfort zone. Her contributions to our sector have been significant and inspiring.

Both Kieron and Elize embody the spirit of our industry, demonstrating not only technical proficiency but also the determination to push through challenges and achieve excellence. Their achievements are a testament to their hard work and dedication, and we are thrilled to see them recognised as finalists.”

Elize said, “I am truly honoured and thrilled to be nominated for Advanced Apprentice of the Year at the North East Awards. This recognition is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and support I have received throughout my apprenticeship journey. It inspires me to continue striving for excellence.”

Kieron commented, “I am absolutely amazed and honoured to be nominated for Intermediate Electrical Engineering Apprentice of the Year. Completing my apprenticeship with a distinction was already a significant achievement, and passing my AM2 the first time was the cherry on top. I want to thank my college and employer for the support received along the way.”

We wish them both the best of luck at the ceremony, which takes place on 11 July at Newcastle United Football Ground.
