Engineering for a net zero future

In recognition of 'This is Engineering Day' and in our centenary year we’re celebrating the contribution our engineers are making to deliver a net zero future.

In 2021, because This is Engineering Day takes place during Cop26, it is shining the spotlight on how engineering will play a key role in shaping our future daily lives and mitigating the effects of climate change to help us live a more sustainable life tomorrow.

As well as taking steps to reduce our own carbon footprint we’re also working with customers across the country to deliver ground-breaking projects which will help transform the way we live, work and travel in the future.

We’re working with BritishVolt to accelerate the UK’s transition to a carbon zero future through the creation of the country’s first battery Gigafactory; we’re harnessing our offsite manufacturing expertise in our work with Landsec at The Forge, the UK’s first net zero carbon commercial building.

Our Facilities and Infrastructure Services teams work with customers across the country providing maintenance services and improving building performance.
