Highly commended honour at Offsite Awards

Our fast-paced installation of mechanical and electrical services at the UK’s prestigious new battery development facility, the UK Battery Industrialisation Centre (UKBIC), picked up Highly Commended in the Best Use of MEP & Pod Technology category at last night’s Offsite Awards.

UKBIC is a pioneering concept in the race to develop battery technology for the transition to a greener future and the ground-breaking 200,000 sq. ft facility is the first one in the UK.

Our installation was designed with offsite in mind and delivered using innovative offsite techniques which were the first of their kind. The £14.6m installation was completed in just eight months with the majority of mechanical and electrical equipment - including more than 6km of pipework, 140 heavy-duty service modules, and innovative space-saving solutions including a multi-service bridge structure – manufactured at our specialist Offsite Manufacture facility.

The project also achieved an exemplary safety record with 176,588 hours worked without a single reportable accident on site. With much of the project delivered during the pandemic, additional safety measures were introduced to enable delivery to continue safely.

At NG Bailey, we have been an advocate of offsite manufacturing for more than 20 years and during this time, we have developed our capabilities, led from our pioneering base in West Yorkshire, to become a UK leader in the field. We were amongst only three recipients of a Highly Commended accolade at this year’s ceremony, so receiving this award really is an honour and we strive to continually enhance and advance our offsite expertise.

The Offsite Awards recognise excellence across every aspect of the industry from hybrid and modular technology to engineering and installation, ensuring that all aspects of the offsite building process is celebrated.
