Mega (Riser) Installation

This week we’ve completed the installation of the mega riser at the University of Warwick’s Interdisciplinary Biomedical Research Building.

The 27.5m high multi-service riser – the biggest ever produced by NG Bailey -  was manufactured at our specialist Offsite Manufacture facility in Bradford. It took just three days to install compared to the 18-weeks it would have taken using traditional methods.

The Interdisciplinary Biomedical Research Building (IBRB) is a £54m state-of-the-art research building to create a world-class environment in which future generations of medical researchers will be trained. The 7,000sqm building is being constructed by Willmott Dixon and we’ve worked closely with them to deliver on the challenge of using 50% offsite manufacturing for both construction and mechanical and electrical services.

By using our Offsite Manufacture expertise we’ve considerably reduced vehicle movements to site. The delivery of the mega-riser in eight sections has saved more than 100 vehicle movements helping to minimise our carbon impact and reduce congestion for the local community. It has also saved more than 9,000 labour hours from site and sped up progress on site.
