NG Bailey's Managed Services Division has achieved Investors In People (IIP) accreditation. Organisations that have IIP recognition are more likely to achieve their goals, have better levels of employee engagement as well as better levels of productivity and financial performance.
An IIP assessor interviewed over 60 people from within Bailey Maintenance, Bailey Teswaine, ICS, s2s and KNI to understand the people processes that are in place and how they are put into practice. He observed noticeable improvements since his last review in early 2008 in the direction and structure of the division, and was really impressed by the enthusiasm of the people he met.
Areas where improvement had been demonstrated across the board, included the commitment to performance management by senior leaders, improvements in the understanding of the 'For Life in Buildings' strategy through improved communication, the increased understanding and alignment of goals and values, particularly through Leading the Way and the increased clarity around roles.
The assessor also highlighted an improved induction process, sharing of business metrics and the implementation of the new performance management process and its associated monitoring.
Helen Sweeney comments on the news: "This is a fantastic achievement. This area of the business was initially assessed for the accreditation in 2008, which it was not successful in achieving. This is why it is even more significant that the accreditation has now been awarded. The team took on board feedback from the last assessment and was determined to make enduring changes to ensure the standard was met.
"The assessors went as far as to say that it was a 'different organisation' to the one they had seen in 2008 - so one of the ways - 'always improving' has really been put into practice, with the outcome benefitting our customers as well as our people.
"Whilst it is always nice to be recognised for the work that has been done, what's more important is that the changes that have been made will benefit our people, our customers and ultimately our bottom line."
This accreditation adds to the IIP status already achieved by Building Services. The next step is to apply for the status for the NG Bailey Group as a whole, a project HR will be focusing on during the next financial year.
Investors In People is the UK's leading people management business improvement standard. Currently almost seven million employees in over 35,000 organisations have achieved Investors In People recognition, and an amazing 3,000 of these organisations have been recognised for ten or more years.
