Annual apprentice conference
Each year, we invite all our apprentices from across the company to come together for our annual conference. The conference demonstrates our commitment to apprentices, recognising the contribution you make to the business and provides an overview of the company’s strategy.
Apprentices are given a briefing on the importance of health and safety, before hearing about why they are such an important part of NG Bailey’s continued success. Speakers include senior executives from across the business.
During the event, high performing apprentices from each scheme are presented with awards to recognise their efforts as outstanding all-round performers. Current and former-apprentices are also given the opportunity to provide the attendees with stories, information and tips on completing the apprenticeship, from their own experiences.
Upon completion of an apprenticeship with NG Bailey, we hold a graduation ceremony where we celebrate your success with friends and family members. Apprentices graduate in style and hear about how important their contribution to the company throughout their apprenticeship has been.
Apprentice development workshops
Every year, our 2nd year apprentices are invited to take part in a two-day development workshop at our head office, Denton Hall. With a mix of activities and challenges, the workshop aims to improve leadership, team working and communication skills, as well as encouraging our apprentices to take ownership of their work performance and career.
Wider development opportunities
We encourage our apprentices to participate in wider development opportunities throughout their apprenticeship.
As a company, we offer job shadowing placements for all apprentices during their final year. Job shadowing enables time to be spent working in a job role or area of the business that may be of particular interest. The experience helps our fourth year apprentices to hone in on their ideas about their future career path.
We provide support to any apprentices wishing to enter local or national apprenticeship awards and skills competitions. Historically, we have been very successful in these areas and we strongly encourage our apprentices to get involved.
We also have an active school engagement programme which aims to inspire the next generation of engineers and many of our apprentices willingly give up their own time to be involved.
