OFFSITE MANUFACTURE - WHAT WE DO
Only 63 per cent of site-based construction projects are delivered on time and only 49 per cent are delivered to budget.
Indeed, Andrew Wolstenholme, Chair of Constructing Excellence, in the ‘Never Waste a Good Crisis’ report, called for construction “to demonstrate how it can create additional economic, social, and environmental value through innovation, collaboration and integrated working.”
NG Bailey has responded to the challenge by creating a world-class manufacturing facility with a proven track record in delivering projects on time, on budget and defect free, providing significant benefits for each client.
We have been pioneering the use of offsite manufacture since 2000 and our specialist division offers a modern and innovative approach to engineering solutions that present a realistic, affordable option to labour-intensive, time-consuming on site production and assembly.
We are recognised as a ‘leader’ in this field and run a 76,000 sq ft offsite manufacturing facility in Yorkshire, which is the largest of its kind in the UK. We’ve invested over £5m on this state-of-the-art facility, where we use BIM modelling to improve the quality and efficiency of design.
There are many significant benefits to offsite manufacture, which include build cost savings of up to 35 per cent, typical labour reduction costs of 40 per cent, time saving programmes of 90 per cent and the optimisation of resources whilst minimising waste and reducing impact on the local community.
We have a proven track record of delivering projects on time, on budget and defect free.
OUR APPROACH - DESIGN FOR MANUFACTURE
We offer a ‘design for manufacture’ approach that presents a realistic, affordable option to labour-intensive, time consuming on-site production and assembly. It is this offsite manufacturing approach that will bring great value and benefits to you.
By working together from project inception we can provide you with a totally bespoke innovative solution.
Designed and built specifically to fit within the dimensions and constraints on individual buildings, our framed solutions include pipework for heating and chilled, cold and hot water systems, containment for electrical cabling and ventilation ductwork.
DESIGNING AND DELIVERING OFFSITE PROJECTS
THE POTENTIAL OF OFFSITE MANUFACTURE
A construction crew in the south-central Chinese city of Changsha completed this remarkable achievement. Sub-assemblies were manufactured and assembled offsite. The builders then took just 46 hours to finish the main structural components and another 90 hours to finish the building enclosure.
The structure is soundproofed, thermal-insulated and includes air quality monitoring in every room due to the pollution issues in China. It has also been built to withstand a magnitude nine earthquake.
THE BENEFITS OF OFFSITE MANUFACTURE
From concept through to reality, the benefits of manufacturing elements of a project offsite are now well proven and significant for all stakeholders in a construction project.
