Hinkley Point C – first cables pulled inside electrical building

The MEH Alliance recently celebrated the first cable pulling inside the Electrical Building at Hinkley Point C. This phase of work will see NG Bailey, alongside the project team installing 36km of cable to support the project’s journey in energising the auxiliary transformer.

This vital piece of equipment helps the site receive a permanent supply of electricity from the National Grid, enabling commissioning of the various electrical components across site.

Throughout the mechanical, electrical, heating, and ventilation (MEH) delivery lifecycle, the MEH Alliance plans to install approximately 10,000km of cables across the power station buildings. This is enough to stretch across the entire length of the UK about 11 times.
