Award success for NG Bailey safety system

Our internally designed and built 'Don't Walk By' health and safety system has been recognised at the 2019 Electrical Contractors' Association Industry Awards where we took home the prize for the best health and safety initiative.

Since it was launched, the digital system has increased the reporting of health and safety related observations by more than 150% across the business, including our supply chain partners. The cloud-based application works on all mobile devices and desktop machines, and has reduced the time it takes to report an observation from around 20-minutes to just one minute. Now the reporting, management, closeout and analysis of observations and incidents is fully automated.

The instant nature of the system enables prompt decisive action to be taken to mitigate or reduce any potential risk to health, safety and wellbeing.

The system is available to everyone who works on an NG Bailey site, not just NG Bailey employees. Once reported, observations are categorised, this information is then used to spot trends which are managed through on-going health, safety and well-being training.

Sean Stewart, Head of Safety, Health and Environment for NG Bailey's Engineering said: “This is a great achievement, a lot of hard work went into designing and introducing the system across all our sites, not just into the technical development but also communicating it and educating our teams about it. To have this recognised with an ECA award means a great deal.”
