NG Bailey helping to transform Sheffield city centre

Offsite Manufacture plays a key role in delivering challenging city centre development

Project Cavendish is a landmark development in the heart of Sheffield city centre. NG Bailey were appointed to provide mechanical, electrical and plumbing services (MEP) to this new seven story development, forming part of the new mixed retail and commercial quarter.

Delivering large construction and engineering schemes in a busy city centre environment presents many challenges, however by utilising our in-house offsite manufacturing expertise we were able to overcome these – saving time and adding value to our client.

Our Offsite Manufacture facility worked closely with our engineering teams from the outset of the project to develop bespoke MEP service module solutions that enabled the fast track project to be delivered within the tight timescales. By utilising just in time deliveries and on-site storage the modules were lifted directly into place – reducing the number of deliveries to site and on-site congestion.

This exemplar project was also an opportunity for 11 local NG Bailey apprentices to see first-hand how early engagement and modern construction practices bring a building to life. As part of the project, 12 work experience placements were also created, two of which resulted in permanent employment.
